We are upgrading "have your say" from polls into a ring-fenced participatory-budget round, modelled on Helsinki’s OmaStadi and Barcelona’s Decidim. Submit an idea, co-develop it, vote island-wide, then watch the winners get funded and delivered.
The council ring-fences a fixed slice of the annual budget for residents to allocate directly. Proposals are open to every Meedhoo resident; the top vote-getters within the ring-fenced amount are funded and tracked to delivery.
Open-source model: Helsinki OmaStadi · Barcelona Decidim.
Ring-fenced for residents · 2026
≈ 5% of the council budget
Proposals are open. Any resident can submit an idea for the island.
The council reviews ideas, checks they are deliverable, and attaches an estimated cost.
Costed projects are on the ballot. Residents vote within the ring-fenced amount.
Winning projects are funded and tracked here through to delivery.
Pick the projects you most want funded. Your selections must fit within the ring-fenced amount; when the budget runs out, you must trade one project for another.
No costed projects are on the ballot yet. Check back once proposals are co-developed.
