Following the referendum of 25 October 2025, Meedhoo voted to form its own Island Council, separate from Addu City Council. The new council marks its founding with a digital home built to a standard no Addu-tier council has reached: fully bilingual, mobile-first and accessible.
The platform’s first phase delivers council and tourism content in both languages, a document hub, an Island Pulse shell on free live feeds and a static emergency-information hub, useful from day one, with transactional e-services and payments to follow.
The council notes that its operational details and governance pages are being confirmed against official records before publication, in keeping with the platform’s commitment to publish only verified fact.
